LGBT

I have found my posts spectacularly vapid, heh heh heh.
Bloggers block or something.
Anyway, the LGBT thing has had me wondering. LGBT - Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender, right? An "initialism", according to wikipedia. First time I have come across that word. Yep, of course I am going to look it up, investigate its origins, how it is used and why it was used in place of maybe "acronym," or why.....okay, I digress. Forgive me. I believe I have a touch of ADD (an ACRONYM for Attention Deficit Disorder, without the "Hyper") and that makes me a bit unfocused and....okay, okay. Back to LGBT.
I wonder why it isn't just Homosexuals, Bisexuals and Transgender - HBT or HoBiT? Ah, well, HBT sounds like some hormone therapy and HoBiT just brings to mind short, clumpy people with disproportionately large feet walking barefoot like Bilbo Baggins. There's enough prejudice without adding the comic factor to the whole thing.
But, isn't a lesbian gay and a gay a homosexual? Or is it just politically incorrect to say "homosexual"? "Homosexual" does mean a person attracted to people of his or her own sex and "lesbian" and "gay" are synonyms of homosexual. But, I suppose like in all languages, the isolation and use of a word or words to be used to mean something in their own right, elevating it from the status of a synonym (similar in meaning to) to a word all its own is an evolutionary process.
So, homosexual will probably come to mean something else - the present definition does confuse me though, especially as "homo" means human being. How homo and sexual came together to mean attracted to one's own sex, I am yet to find out!
Anyway, as it is, Lesbian is not Gay and Gay is not Lesbian. I am to infer from the way it is used that Gay is used for males and Lesbian is for females. Lesbian is defined as a female Homosexual. Gay also has as a definition "Homosexual: Gay Men" but interestingly has no synonym or antonym (opposite in meaning) that refers to anything of a homosexual or remotely sexual nature.
So, another mystery to be solved - how did "Gay" come to be used as a synonym for Homosexual?
Bisexual (Ambisexual) - that is clear enough in meaning; attracted to both sexes. Though it should now morph into something more robust, since we seem to have more than two genders now (transgender people are not male or female, in my humble opinion.) Like Omnisexual? Omni means "all, in all ways, places etc. Without limits" according to Merriam-Webster online. So, instead of Bisexual, we say Omnisexual. So, if a man likes a transgender person,  he cannot be gay, nor can he be bisexual, can he? Or a woman in the same situation - lesbian or bisexual? So, I vote Omnisexual to replace Bisexual.
And Transgender. What IS that about? Having the soul of one sex, body of another or both? I am thoroughly confused.
The new acronym would then be LGOT (Lesbian, Gay, Omnisexual and Transgender) or GLOT, though that does not bring nice things to mind. Maybe LeGOT, with a French accent, would pretty things up.
Don't get me wrong, I am a liberal person. I believe God has allowed all of this for a reason. To teach us tolerance, to teach us steadfastness AND tolerance in the face of things that we do not believe in.
I have no problems with the LGBT - their choices and preferences are not my business, it is supposed to be a free world, is it not? And everyone is free to be who or what they want to be.
What I am uncomfortable with is the way in which the rest of us, the non-LGBT are being subtly harassed into accepting their lifestyle choices and preferences. It is not helping their cause. Forcing me to accept a way of life that goes against my beliefs is not going to make me like or embrace it or you. I will only be irritated and resentful. Then again, I guess they feel the same way, us, the non-LGBT, not even subtly trying to force them to accept that our way is THE way.
I guess we are all going to have to learn to co-exist peacefully.
But, I still need to know what gender the transponders are going to be named. Fhemale for a person that was born a female but says she is now a male but with a vagina and no penis and Malefe (pronounced with a long ee at the end) for a natural born man who now has breasts and a penis. If a malefe likes a man, is shim gay or lesbian? Or omnisexual?
Na wa!
