Life is a terminal illness that has only one end - death. I do not doubt that there is life after death, for, to doubt is to perish. To believe otherwise is to open a door to despondency, depression and sorrow. I have to believe that the death of this earthly body is the doorway to another life. That my father is somewhere else, learning wonderful things up there in the sky (or wherever heaven is).

I hope he gets answers to all the questions he ever asked and could not find the answers to; revelations of the mysteries he pondered on; validation and affirmation of the things he believed in. And that, finally, he gets a working internet connection - his main beef with the mobile internet gadgets being sold by the telecoms companies was that they just did not work!

He always said that he believed that there was heaven and there was hell but that God was so merciful that few, if any, people would be in hell.

Now, it is 8pm and I reach for my phone to call my father, for it is at this time we have our usual evening chat, where I update him on the antics of my children. And then it dawns on me, yet again, that the only conversations I can have with him now will be in my heart.

My Baby is Eight!!

Today, my baby turns eight. I still have vivid memories of her as a baby. A baby who, even then was very strong willed, who made her displeasure known very loudly. Vacation Time: Part I - Flying with children.

It's that time of the year. Vacation time! Yayyy!! Or is it "Oh No!"? Many of us will be boarding flights to some destination, where we hope to get some rest, relaxation and peace. Hope to. For mothers of young children, that may be a vain hope. Especially since many of our daddies seem to have meetings that prevent them from traveling on the same day with us. Or even when they are with us, they are conveniently seated away from the action hub! Convenient, yes? Beginning with the flight from home, we are already frazzled. Excited children, bored children, badly behaved children. Our children belong to one or more of these categories. Travelling with young kids can be trying but the stress can be minimized, believe it or not.  My last post was May 12, 2019. Wow. Wow. And again, Wow. I haven’t written anything in three years. Except you count my WhatsApp responses to other people’s posts I think must be answered - people tend to say the darndest things and expect you to just accept it.  Social media has become a platform for social reform and most often not for the better - fact and fiction, gems and drivel are merged to form a warped “truth” spewed out with conviction and not many bother to check what’s what.
